In a previous post I wrote about my goals. More specifically goals I wanted to accomplish before I turn 30. I’m only two (eek) short months away from turning 30, and I’ve hit a slump in achieving my goals.
I have had to step back these past few weeks and really evaluate what is important to me. Sometimes I over commit and other times I can’t find the motivation. I am more concerned when I am unmotivated, as there is usually a underlying reason for lack of motivation.
Here are the first four things I do when I need to reevaluate my motivation:
- Sleep- When things get crazy in my life, I always start with how much sleep I am getting, or not getting. I tend to find that if I am not getting enough sleep, it is because I either am staying up late playing on my phone -or- stressed about upcoming events.
- To-Do Lists– I am a planner! I make to-do lists for everything! My favorite app I use to keep me on track is ToDoIst. I can organize all my items by category and this app can be used on a desk top, so I can keep it open on my computer at all times. It even e-mails me every morning about things I have coming up!
- Action Plans– I wrote about this in a previous post, but I do use these often. I sometimes make an action plan for a specific project or goal, or for a boarder subject, such as what do I want to do with my life. Either way it can help ask those tough questions to help you get on track.
- Reaching Out– Sometimes you just need to realize you can’t do it all by yourself. Maybe I just need a quick picker-uper, and a text message to a friend will do, or I need a colleague to help recommend a place to eat. Either way asking for help is always the hardest.
Anyways, here is to finishing my final two months in my twenties STRONG!
